Virtual Subhosting On Your Own Web Server
Virtual
subhosting for multiple Web sites is one of the most powerful features
of the Virtual Private Server and our Apache Web Server. This feature
allows you to support multiple domain names that each resolve
to their own unique subdirectories on a single Virtual Private Server.
In other words, you can host CustomerOne.com and CustomerTwo.com
on the same Virtual Private Server, each with its own domain name
and unique site content. You can also offer each virtual subhost customer
their own unique FTP login with access to their own subdirectory and
e-mail addresses using their own domain name.
For Webmasters or independent Web site developers, virtual
subhosting offers you a powerful, low-cost product that you can use
to provide high quality hosting services for your clients and create
additional revenue for you. You can use virtual subhosting to provide
clients with a relatively small site for a low monthly fee, later
upgrading them to a more complete, full featured hosting account as
their needs expand. A Virtual Private Server is also great for
a larger Web site by itself with more expansive needs, such as
an e-commerce site or any other server intensive or high traffic site.
Limitations
For performance reasons, we have established guidelines with
regard to the number of virtual subhosts you should place on a single
Virtual Private Server. Keep in mind that these guidelines are suggested
so that the performance of your own Virtual Private Server and virtual
subhost domains is not compromised. Depending upon monthly server
traffic, you may be able to easily host a higher number of
Web sites on one server.
